In the honour of handloom community, August 7th is observed as National Handloom Day. This is a way of acknowledging the significance of community's contribution in the socio-economic growth of our nation.
There is something more to it than just celebrating the socio-economic development of the India. It is also to protect the heritage of handloom culture. It is to empower the community and workers in the handloom industry.
The National Handloom Day can be considered as one of the oldest enterprises of recently launched Atmanirbhar Bharat Mission. Its importance in nation building is immense and significant as it has people (who are into handloom works) from the largest part of social pyramid or the population from the bottom of the pyramid. A stronger industry around handloom products is a large scale public welfare deed. And that is why it is also commemorated as the Swadeshi Movement.
Nitte School of Fashion Technology and Interior Design stands united with Handloom Community and sensitize its stakeholders such as students, designers, staffs and other fashion communities to support this great cause of nation building and heritage protection.
